Everyone Deserves a Chance to See Their Dreams Come True
When you are starting out in the music business, it is very challenging to know what advice is solid (and more importantly, what's not). You may get a lot of advice but it's difficult to know who to trust. You get so many different opinions that it is easy to get confused and/or overwhelmed! The vast amount of information on Internet just makes it even more confusing.
I was very lucky early on to end up meeting some great mentors, some who have also become good friends. These mentors inspired me, kept me motivated, and gave me great advice that I could trust. They gave me all the information I needed to make up my own mind and proceed with confidence. Over the years, I have discovered just how lucky I was. Not everyone is that lucky.
When Wyatt originally approached me about MBM, I was intrigued. I had been putting together seminars and workshops over the years but they only reached a small group of people. After several meetings, Jen, Wyatt & I found that we were on the same page and all of us were excited to realize that we could really help a lot of people. One of our main goals is to connect people with music business professionals who are currently working in the business, and who can share their experiences in a positive way. Our hope was to create a safe place for people to get questions answered and/or be able to pick a topic and have several professionals ready to give the kind of excellent advice that only years of success in the business can bring.
I believe that MBM will help build an international community that will be stronger because of the knowledge that our mentors provide.
To make this work, all three of us have been drawing on our contacts to become mentors at MBM. All of them have worked in the business for years and are successful in what they do. They are THE professionals who you have been hoping to get to talk to at conferences but can never reach because they are so busy. MBM is a great way to not only get to meet them but be able to engage one-on-one with them, and get some great information.
At the end of the day, I feel good about giving back by helping people get the essential advice that they need. I believe everyone deserves a chance to make their dreams come true.
